July 21, Vienna day 4

Today, my travel guide was Google Maps. I was through with all the reserved tours so it was a an open day. I decided to see an old church KarlsKirche (St Charles' church) and visit some of the Hofburg grounds which I had not seen before.

St Charles' church was built in 1737 in Baroque style

One of the two angels guarding the church.

Sunday mass was just finishing.

Inside the dome, the decorations are beautiful.

At the entrance there is a miniature model of the church.

The altar is amazing.

Beautiful painting, fresco and furniture are part of this church.

The Grand restaurant which Sigmund Freud, Gustav Clint and Johann Strauss visited.

Butterfly garden in Burggarten

Statues in Burggarten

In Austria, German is the official language.

Guess whose statue this is?

Some more famous statues in Vienna

Queen Maria Teresa's statue is the heaviest statue in Austria.

Busy in downtown Vienna on a Sunday.

This is an famous dessert in Austria called Sacher torte named after the chef who made it for the queen. It's chocolate cake with apricot filling and Queen Usha sampled it and approves of it. Haha!
